Due to commercial decisions taken by the City of Cape Town, please note that as of 1 August 2011 you will no longer be able to purchase prepaid electricity tokens from the City on the www.itronenergy.co.za website. If you are already registered on the website, you may still however purchase electricity via sms.  This can be done by following the process below:

  1. Logon to www.itronenergy.co.za
  2. Set a default meter number and payment method on your profile
  3. Specify your cellphone number to which you want the token to be returned to.
  4. Setup an SMS password

Once the SMS payment method is set up for your account,  purchase electricity via sms, follow these steps:

1.    SMS the the word ‘ELEC’, along with the amount you wish to purchase for and your password to 0823055520
2.    e.g:    ELEC 250.00 mypassword
